It's so encouraging to see people take action to support those who are living in bondage and in desperate need of our help, instead of just talking about ways to bring change. Getting to work with Maumero Shoes is amazing, because it's about a lot more than just beautiful shoes. I'm so inspired by the way that Maumero is generously giving of what they have to help rescue those who need to be fought for. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to also come behind them and support Amazima & IJM and all they are doing for people in slavery, human sex trafficking, and unjust situations.
IJM is a global organization that protects the poor from violence in the developing world. Their global team includes more than 750 lawyers, investigators, social workers, community activists and other professionals at work through 17 field offices. They rescue victims, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen the justice systems. They fight slavery, sex trafficking, sexual violence, police brutality, property grabbing, and citizen rights abuse. So far, they've rescued more than 32,000 people from violence and oppression. Today they are working to help protect 21 million people globally from violence.
Amazima is an organization who's stated mission is to live out the love of Jesus by educating and empowering the people of Uganda and the communities they serve. The core of what they do is found in Uganda, Africa. Their work in Uganda includes relief work (keeping people alive) to development work (helping people live better, more productive and satisfying lives)—all while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ at every turn in the journey. They have developed a school, a scholarship program, a farming center, and a medical center for the Ugandan people, giving them the care and opportunities they so desperately need.
