A Rare Kind
A rare kind is an online retailer with a directional selection of independent and luxury brands. We have positioned design, craftsmanship and social responsibility, at the heart of what we do –
The way we buy, the way we think, the way we create; right through to the way we develop relationships with our labels. By approaching fashion and lifestyle with a sharp and contrarian eye, we only covet the brands and products that we believe in rather than what is dictated by the industry. We are interested in the integrity, longevity and the aesthetics of the brands.
Trends are not so relevant to us.
I fell in love with not only Cuyana's product the moment I saw it, but what the company stands for. They promote that our closets are stronger when we have fewer, but better items. If you've been following along, you know that I am currently in the process of creating a capsule wardrobe, so working with Cuyana was up the right alley for me.
Brass Clothing is created on the idea that a woman is better off building a capsule closet of 20-30 pieces, than of having tons of items that she doesn't need/doesn't wear. They design the best version of the pieces with attention to fit, fabric, and feminine design. This very concept is something I've been trying to apply to my own wardrobe in the last couple months, so partnering with them was perfect. Check out there 5 principles below that they design their clothing around. This is a great checklist for any of you who are also looking to simplify and refine your closets!
When it comes to clothes I'm someone who views comfort as a top need. If I don't feel completely myself, and totally comfortable in something, it's a no go for me. This is part of the reason why Corinne pieces are some of my favorite around. Corinne is made out of the softest materials. I joke that it's like wearing beautiful pajamas, but wait till you feel her fabric and you'll see why.
t's so encouraging to see people take action to support those who are living in bondage and in desperate need of our help, instead of just talking about ways to bring change. Getting to work with Maumero Shoes is amazing, because it's about a lot more than just beautiful shoes.
Nylon Saddle x Winsome Goods
Today here in MN we got a dumping of fresh white snow. And when I say dumping, I mean like the 'walk outside and have snow up to your knees' kind of dumping. I've been curled up in my fuzzy turtleneck sweater, hat & boots on, drinking coffee & cocoa since morning
NA-KD Look No. 1
Working with Winsome Goods is always such a treat. Kathryn's designs never cease to amaze me. Getting to combine Winsome's pieces with photos from one of the most talented photographers in the business, Nylon Saddle, was a dream. We shot Winsome's upcoming spring line all on film, and every single piece we got to work with was absolutely killer.
The Dress That You Can't Live Without
I am someone who truly believes that you can never have too many simple staple pieces. I loved getting to partner with NA-KD Fashion, because they had so many of the type of pieces I'm trying to have more of in my closet. Things that can be worn and worn and reworn again. In different ways, with different things... useful pieces that never lose their luster.
All about individuality and versatility.
Designed and made in a Los Angeles studio, these pieces are curated for the simple, yet brave woman.
Winsome x Carter Jumpsuit
I'm a girl who loves a good hat, no question. Whether it's to cover up dirty hair, or add the finishing touch to any look, hats are magic. I loved getting to partner with Brookes Boswell, who creates hats so beautifully. She sent me the cutest floppiest little thing, and I haven't been able to part with it since. It's lightweight material makes it perfect for summer days, while still giving my face just enough shade.
Objects Without Meaning x Intentionally Blank
Just like every girl needs a little black dress tucked into their back pocket, every girl equally needs a little black jumpsuit. They are a much needed staple piece to your wardrobe. Wear endless ways, while feeling fab every time.
Winsome Goods x Valencia
Intentionally Blank is changing the shoe game. Between the diverse and edgy styles they come up with and the materials they use to create their shoes out of, you absolutely cannot go wrong. Guarantee, they have something for everyone.
Where do I even begin. This piece is like nothing I own, and really not much like anything I've even seen before. It's light linen-like material makes it comfortable, but the structure and design of this piece is exquisite. It's modern look is so different from your typical dress that it makes it impossible not to completely fall in love. I loved playing around and getting weird with Alex Ry for this shoot. Incorporating the greenery from the plants brought to life the fresh edge that this dress embodies.
Keep It Simple
Boutonne Design Haus specializes in handmade leather goods that are the absolute loveliest. They are based in San Diego, CA but sell here in MN at Golden Rule in Excelsior. I got the chance to work with Boutonne on a fun little project with this bag, and I have to say it quickly became my daily carry-all.
I have so many things that I have worn once since buying them, and things that just don't suit my style any more. I'm taking on the task of cleaning out, selling, giving away. Just getting rid of unnecessary articles of clothing that are taking up space and making it hard to utilize the core solid items I do have.
